This evening, Saskia’s gallery promises not to give a damn. But their group exhibition, [*Little do I care*](https://www.instagram.com/p/DWJjnLvCFiT/?img%5Findex=1&ref=examiner.media), doesn’t live up to its name — with “measured resistance to histories of control”.

The rebellious Sugathapala de Silva [retrospective](https://www.instagram.com/p/DV4%5FbH7D1EZ/?ref=examiner.media) steals the limelight at the [Kamatha Theatre festival](https://www.instagram.com/p/DV0cHKQD5p1/?img%5Findex=1&ref=examiner.media). It’s also [Open House Colombo](https://www.instagram.com/p/DVIYuyVDtmS/?ref=examiner.media)’s last weekend – a rare chance to prowl through the lives of others. Or for lives of the past, [jaunt off](https://www.instagram.com/p/DVxZVQckrSD/?ref=examiner.media) to Anuradhapura with an ethnographer, thanks to the history and memory collective.

Saturday brings a [Hannah Montana nostalgia party](https://www.instagram.com/p/DV3c%5FsCj4Gr/?ref=examiner.media), and in the evening, Anoma Rajakaruna’s [documentary](https://www.instagram.com/p/DWTAW2SDKeN/?ref=examiner.media) meditation on the Katchchatheevu feast and the [Tamil creative jam ](https://www.instagram.com/p/DVqyy4qDGpt/?ref=examiner.media)at Lakmahal.

On Sunday, a yummy mummy pilates [scavenger hunt](https://www.instagram.com/p/DVx5VHagJeF/?ref=examiner.media), and [board games](https://www.instagram.com/p/DWOl4YViNFJ/?ref=examiner.media). For the sake of your kids, rewind to 2015 – when you were still wild and young and free – at the [Inside Out](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/movie-time-inside-out-tickets-1984538233278?ref=examiner.media) screening.

Trivia quizzes are back in vogue. Tipples always were. On Monday grab your *bebadda* friend for [tipsy trivia night](https://www.instagram.com/p/DWBQDv8AHHN/?ref=examiner.media). Open up your voice with the Chamber Music Society’s [vocal masterclass](https://www.facebook.com/events/1590243295549022/) with the high-powered Andrew Watt.

Come Tuesday, Uditha Devapriya is reunited with his [Martin Wickremsinghe](https://www.instagram.com/p/DVtHROwDABt/?ref=examiner.media) muse.

On the 1st, barring all the April Fools’ jokes, a [workshop ](https://www.facebook.com/events/953990950305760/)on the Japanese technique of *kintsugi*. If only we could glue Lanka so.

Ponnaiyah Peter’s exhibition [Mayfly](https://www.instagram.com/p/DWTZPcnmDTu/?ref=examiner.media), or not, at Barefoot. What’s certain is it will end.

*What to read*

Buddhism, more than any other faith, embraces impermanence. This [essay](https://www.himalmag.com/culture/buddhism-history-philosphy-india-china-japan?ref=examiner.media) asks why it all but disappeared in the land of its birth, India, but flourished further East.

[Why](https://www.publicfinance.lk/en/topics/fuel-price-shock-1773754747?ref=examiner.media) the fuel price shock doesn’t need to fully fall on consumers, from Verité Research’s boffins. Pair that Molotov cocktail with how the government’s own fuel pass puts data privacy laws to the [test](https://cir.lk/fuel-pass-and-privacy-sri-lankas-data-protection-law-faces-its-first-real-test/?ref=examiner.media). On that note, the future isn’t today. Apparently Hans’ Q3 digital ID deadline is [impossibly](https://medium.com/@samarasingheisuru289/sri-lankas-digital-id-a-promise-deferred-again-no-digital-id-in-2026-92bcc85b0fde?ref=examiner.media) aspirational.

A journal [article](https://sljma.sljol.info/articles/5600/files/69c21bdca29d5.pdf?ref=examiner.media) (excellent archival photos, terrible writing) on the history of our national institute of mental health. And a detailed academic [review](https://d-nb.info/1384829296/34?ref=examiner.media#page=205) of the MMCA’s first exhibition *One Hundred Thousand Small Tales.*

Fr. Aloysius Pieris, the bolivar of Asian Liberation Theology, died this week. A [documentary](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAv4bMy113M&t=2005s&ref=examiner.media) on his impish cross-cultural life – at timestamp 33.00 is a particularly poignant vignette.
